Retirement of veteran councillors opens the field in Alcester and Studley

THE local elections are looming in Stratford District with the people of Alcester and Studley and surrounding villages urged to get out and vote this Thursday, May 2.

In Alcester and Studley the retirement of two long standing local representatives brings new faces forward to contest the elections to Stratford District Council.

In Alcester’s Kinwarton ward veteran councillor at county, district and town level Mike Gittus will not be standing while in Studley with Sambourne much-loved councillor Hazel Wright is also stepping down.

Major issues will include the measures taken to lessen the impact of the Redditch Eastern Gateway development and the future direction of Alcester within Stratford district.

Alcester and Rural: Mark Cargill (Conservative Party), Carolyn Evans (Liberal Democrats), Andrew Foster (Labour Party), Mike Mordue (Green Party).


Alcester Town: Sue Adams (Cons), Jake Hotson (Greens), Susan Juned (Lib Dems), Emma Whiteford (Lab).

Kinwarton: Lyn Bowring (Lib Dems), Gil Forman (Cons), Kathrin Foster (Lab), Tess Venus (Greens).

Studley with Mappleborough Green: Wayne Bates (Lab), Peter Hencher Serafin (Lib Dems), Justin Kerridge (Cons), Margaret Widdowson (Greens).

Studley with Sambourne: Paul Beaman (Cons), Neil Edden (Lib Dems), Val Gaizze (Greens), Chris Pilkington (Lab).
