Residents in Redditch raise concerns over difficulty meeting their GPs

Redditch Editorial 7th Oct, 2020   0

A NUMBER of residents in Redditch have raised concerns over how difficult it is to get face-to-face appoints with their GPs.

Town MP Rachel Maclean recently met with the Chief Executive of the local CCG, Simon Trickett, to put the concerns directly to him.

“I was told face-to-face appointments are being offered when it is essential a patient is seen in person,” said Mrs Maclean.

“Forty to 50 per cent of consultations are still being done in person.

“However, GPs are embracing new technologies – and I do welcome this.”

Mrs Maclean claims that patients seen within one day increased from 50 per cent in January to 77 per cent in May when compared to 2019.

“Clearly, telephone and video appointments are ensuring patients are seen much more quickly,” she added.

“And by seeing more people by telephone or video, it allows GPs to have more time for those patients with more complex cases who do need to be seen in the surgery.”
