Residents asked to take survey on the future redevelopment of Redditch

Redditch Editorial 9th Nov, 2020   0

RESIDENTS are urged to have their say on the future redevelopment of Redditch.

An online survey has been launched to get people’s views on their priorities for ‘unlocking Redditch’ – the long-standing mantra of the Conservative-controlled Borough Council.

The authority has outlined four regeneration quarters: Station and Residential, Education and Enterprise, Retail and Leisure and Public Sector and Cultural with the Church and ‘old town’ anchoring these, creating open spaces and clear routes.

The consultation comes after the council secured £1m of government cash to develop the town along with 101 other areas across the country.

Council leader Matt Dormer said: “This £1m will help us to take the first steps to realise our ambitious plans to unlock Redditch.

“Undoubtedly we will focus on the quarters identified in our plan and work with the Town Deal Board to identify what actions we can take to meet our objectives.

“These include providing jobs, homes, skills and taking action to reduce our carbon emissions.

“So, we want to get our residents involved and find out what is important to them as we develop this strategy.”
