Redditch Tories head to Arrow Valley Park for the launch of their manifesto

REDDITCH Conservatives were in Arrow Valley Park last Sunday for the launch of their local elections manifesto.

The elections take place on May 2 when a third of seats on the borough council will be contested.

There to support them was the town’s Conservative MP Rachel Maclean.

She said that since the Tories had taken back control of the authority last year the borough had been put on a new course.

She had raised the town’s bid for extra money from the Government’s Future High Streets Fund in the Houses of Parliament during Prime Minister’s Questions, urging Theresa May to back the Redditch campaign.

In reply, the Prime Minister said she was ‘tempted’ to do so adding: “It’s important we’ve made this money available.

“I congratulate Redditch Borough Council, under the Conservatives, for all they’re doing to ensure the vitality of their town.”

Afterwards Mrs Maclean said: “Conservative-led Redditch Borough Council have been working hard these past 12 months to unlock the full potential of our town after six years of Labour neglect.

“We’re moving our town in the right direction with ambitious plans for the future of Redditch. We can’t go backwards now and undo the great work Conservative-led Redditch Borough Council have done.

“Speaking to residents on the doorstep, I know they want what’s best for their town, which is why I felt it was important I raised the town’s Future High Streets Fund bid in PMQs to ensure our bid is at the forefront of Ministers’ minds.”
