A CANDLELIT vigil to show Redditch support for the people of the Ukraine is set to take place this Sunday, March 13, at 7pm at the old covered market area behind the post office.

The vigil has been organised by Council Leader Matt Dormer, who said: ” I think everyone is aware of what’s going on in the Ukraine today and the Redditch community has done a fantastic job by really come together and sending out supplies to help the refugees.

“I wish to stress this vigil is not about politics it’s about human life and what’s happening in the world today.

“The women, children and men of Ukraine never asked for any of this and on Sunday we can show our support for them.”

Everyone is welcome to go along and people are encouraged to bring their own battery operated candles – or use their phones to light the way.
