Redditch startup delivers smilies to the borough

A REDDITCH businesswoman aims to help employees beat the winter blues with her new start-up.

Smile Box, will be providing ‘care boxes’ containing a variety of sustainably-sourced treats.

Donna Fisher, who launched the start-up, believes a Smile Box is a way for employers to show staff they care about their health and wellbeing.

After experiencing concerns about the potential costs of launching a new business, Donna sought advice from the business support team at Worcestershire County Council which led her to apply for Enterprising Worcestershire’s Start-up Grant.

The grant covered the costs for professional photography and provided funding for marketing brochures, web design and a prototype.

Donna said: “The grant application was seamless and easy. What’s more, the team at Enterprising Worcestershire were always on hand to offer advice and help if I had a query.

“They had a genuine interest in my business and a desire to see me succeed which meant a lot.”

Councillor Marc Bayliss, the county council’s cabinet member with responsibility for infrastructure, said: “I am delighted that through our Enterprising Worcestershire programme we can help so many wonderful, innovative businesses like Smile Box get off the ground.”

Grant funding is still available. Visit: https://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/StartUp_Grant for more.
