Redditch Specsavers launch new recycling campaign in the Kingfisher

SPECSAVERS in Redditch have installed more recycling points in their Kingfisher Shopping Centre store, and launched a new contact lens recycling scheme.

Their ‘zero waste’ box comes from recycling company TerraCycle, which specialises in hard to recycle waste.

Redditch store manager Gurdeep Bansal said: “We’re really pleased to offer a lens recycling point to the local community.

“Everyone is welcome to drop off their contact lens waste at our store – you don’t have to be a Specsavers customer; just pop in and our team will be happy to help.”

Reducing plastic waste is high on the environmental agenda but historically contact lens wearers have struggled to find ways to dispose of lenses and packaging without resorting to sending them to landfill.

The zero waste box is suitable for used contact lenses, foil, pods and monthly contact lens cases.
