Redditch Scouts sign new lease to secure future of group

THE TEAM at the 1st Redditch Scouts put pen to paper on the new lease of their hut based in Greenlands.

The group, which has been offering Scouting in the area for more than half-a-century, said they were very pleased to have finalised the lease, securing another 50 years.

District chairperson, Peter Nash, said: “I am happy to see a long and exciting future for the group now they have secured the ongoing use of their headquarters.”

Group lead volunteer, Sallie-Ann Barnett, added: “We are now looking to try and develop the site to be able to increase the number of young people we can support.

“With high levels of interest in joining the Scout movement, it is still as relevant today as it was when it was formed in 1907.

“With skills from first aid to digital creations and fire lighting to lateral thinking, Scouting prepares young people with the resilience they need to be successful in today’s diverse society, all while they’re having great fun.”

The group is always looking for more adult volunteers to support its growing team, whether it be working directly with the young people or supporting the team which leads the governance and management.
