A REDDITCH schoolgirl has bagged the top prize in a Tesco competition promoting healthy eating and lifestyles.
Ten-year-old Amelia Willshaw, entered the competition that asked local primary schools in the Redditch area to design a poster to the theme of ‘Healthy Eating’ and her design – of colourful fruit and a large tick alongside her own slogan – pipped the others for the top spot and prizes.
Tesco organised the contest to encourage community involvement and healthy eating and the skilled Webheath Primary School pupil will now have her design featured on thousands of hessian bags available for free at the Tesco Redditch Extra store.
The bag with Amelia’s winning design was presented to her alongside her prize of £25 worth of Tesco gift cards.
For winning, her school will also receive a Junior Chef Academy Workshop which will show and teach pupils about food and cooking healthily.
Head teacher at Webheath Primary School, Christine Millward, said: “Both Amelia and the school were thrilled to find out she had won the competition. We’ve handed out the bags to pupils and teachers and can’t wait to see them being carried around Redditch.
“We are also looking forward to the Junior Chef Academy Workshop as it will be a fun interactive workshop for the children to take part in.”
Farzana Kauser, Tesco customer experience manager, added: “We loved Amelia’s colourful design – it looks wonderful on the new bags and I am sure our customers will be delighted to use them.”
