Redditch runners’ marathon effort

Redditch Editorial 10th Sep, 2017   0

TIRED but elated parkrunners from Redditch are celebrating after raising more than £6,000 for charity after completing ‘eight-and-a-half’ parkruns in one day last Saturday.

In all 65 runners from the Arrow Valley group took part, joined by core teams from Brueton (Solihull), Leamington, Stratford and Rugby.

In the process they covered 42km, the equivalent of a marathon but at nine different locations.

“The day went very well and we are still counting the totals but are now over £6,000 for the charities,” said Rachel Gould from the parkrunners.

The day started at 7.30am in Solihull and finished at 7.30pm on their home circuit down at Arrow Valley Park in Redditch.

“We had lots of fun on the day, plenty of cake was eaten and a fantastic amount raised,” added Rachel.

The money will be split between Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Action Medical Research for Children.
