Redditch MP seeks assurances over £29m hospitals funding

RACHEL Maclean has been seeking reassurances from health ministers that the £29million capital funding earmarked for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust after the Care Quality Commission re-stated its ‘inadequate’ rating.

The Trust remains rated as ‘inadequate’ following an inspection by the CQC late last year, however the report recognised improvements with emergency and medical care at the Alex and Worcestershire Royal going from ‘inadequate’ to ‘requires improvement’.

Last Wednesday the MP met with newly-appointed Minister of State for Health and Social Care, Stephen Barclay.

“He assured me the £29million capital funding promised for the Acute Trust has not been affected by the CQC’s recent inspection,” she said.

“Along with my fellow Worcestershire MPs, I will continue to support the Acute Trust and the leadership team as we fight for better services and first class treatment the people of Redditch deserve.”
