Redditch man left stranded after thieves steal his bicycle

Redditch Editorial 18th Mar, 2018   0

A REDDITCH man has issued a desperate plea for the return of his stolen bicycle.

Shane Hawkes had bought the blue-coloured Voodoo Bantu mountain bike new in May 2015 and relied on it to go to job interviews.

The power press and hand machine operator has covered some 5,000 miles on the bike and is lost without it.

The bike has hydraulic disc brakes, bar ends and adjustable mirrors on the end of the handlebars plus a ‘whale tail’ and ‘crud catcher’ style mudguards on the seat tube and down tube.

One key feature is its red saddle cover.

Shane, aged 59 and of Landor Road, Greenlands, had left the bike locked outside the Golden Cross pub on Unicorn Hill last Thursday but when he went to check on it at 5.45pm thieves had cut through the lock and stolen it.

He is appealing for anyone who knows of its whereabouts to contact Redditch police station direct or ring 101.
