REDDITCH Library’s dementia-friendly cafe ‘Old Redditch Reminiscers’ is proving to be a huge success.

It gives local people the opportunity to browse through some of the library’s fascinating archives, which includes newspaper articles dating back to the early 1800s.

The cafe got off to a flying start when it launched in July and now has more than 25 people attending each month.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, Worcestershire County Council’s member with responsibility for communities said: “Providing an engaging and welcoming space for people to talk about dementia is important in our communities.

“This cafe is a wonderful place to visit, make new friends and share memories.

“I hope it continues to be a valuable addition to the services we offer at Redditch library.”

Library volunteer Zoe Mucklow said the cafe has helped increase dementia awareness in the town.

Old Redditch Reminiscers runs between 10am -12noon on the first Friday of every month.
