REDDITCH Local History Museum will be celebrating its first anniversary on Friday, November 4 with a day of thanks for those who have given their support over the past 12 months.

The celebration will get under way at 11am at the museum with the venue open for usual visitors from midday.

The current museum was started by local historians to save thousands of memories and artefacts from the town’s past.

And as part of the celebrations, a complete model of the old Evesham Street is being assembled following requests from visitors.

The model has been built by John Maries and depicts life before Redditch was declared a new town, covering ten years from the 1950s and recording many of the old shops and local names which were part of everyday life.

During that period, the town was packed with pianos from Church Green, a marketplace, Woolworths, four cinemas and much more.
