Redditch High School chosen again to lead county's Girls Can campaign

TRINITY High School has once again been chosen to represent Redditch in a county-wide campaign aiming to get more girls involved in physical activity.

The school was selected by Sports Partnership of Hereford and Worcester (SPHW) which has developed the ‘Worcs Girls Can’ campaign – the county’s version of the national ‘This Girl Can’ scheme.

It looks to get all girls moving, regardless of ability, to promote positive mental health benefits.

SPHW has been working with several schools and sporting organisations over the last four years to bring the project to life.

The campaign will run at various schools across the county between March 9-20.

During this time a number of sports clubs will help transform girls’ PE lessons by taking part in a range of activities including Dance and Rugby.

PE teacher Amy Henman, who is organising the event at Trinity, said: “Research suggests that there are huge barriers for young women to take part in sport.

“This campaign aims to break down those barriers and address the issues which girls are facing right now.”
