Redditch dog walkers step out for Ukrainian animal sanctuary

FOUR legged friends and their owners stepped out on a mass dog walk last Saturday to raise money for an animal sanctuary in Ukraine.

Organised by Redditch Dog Walking, some 130 walkers with 75 dogs met at Forge Mill before setting out on the walk.

The cost was £5 and the total sum raised was match funded by the nearby Beefeater pub and restaurant bringing in some £1,700 for the snactuary in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

Not only that but the Beefeater also donated breakfast baps for the hungry walkers to enjoy.

“It went really well – the weather was lovely, which helped – and I everyone enjoyed themselves for a good cause,” said Hana Malins who helped organise the event with Redditch Dog Walking owner Jess Taylor-Jones.

“Not only that but we ran out of time for the raffle on the day so that’s still running for another week so there should be some more money coming in.”

The pooches had a good time too and came away with both dog treats and a bowl for all their fundraising efforts.
