LOCAL schools came together on Wednesday for Redditch Dancefest 2018.

Hosted by Tudor Grange Academy, the festival was held in the main theatre and saw ten schools taking part.

More than 190 students from Year 1 to Year 13 participated in the event which saw them showcase their talents in dance routines created either through class work, for exam work or developed at extra curricular clubs.

“It was a true celebration of dance, where our young inspiring dancers got the opportunity to shine on stage and share their experiences and enjoyment of dance with one another,” said Cassie Rivett, dance teacher at Tudor Grange Academy Redditch and organiser of this year’s event.

Joining Tudor Grange on stage were youngsters from Trinity High School, Batchley First School, Webheath Academy, Abbeywood First School, St Augustine’s High School, Woodrow First School, Oakhill First School, Ridgeway Academy and Walkwood Middle School.

Dance is recognised as not only great fun, but also great exercise for both youngsters and adults alike.

Jodie Bolter, Principal of Tudor Grange Academy Redditch said: “Dancefest is such a fantastic opportunity for local schools to come together to celebrate their amazing students.

“We are very much looking forward to hosting more events in the future, showcasing the talents of the students in Redditch.

“It has been a very inspirational afternoon.”
