Redditch's community encouraged to add lines to town poem

Redditch Editorial 8th Jan, 2020   0

RESIDENTS are being asked to contribute to ‘The Redditch Borough Poem’ with views on what the town means to them.

Redditch Borough Council is hoping that a range of different people, groups and organisations will contribute one line each to the poem.

The official title of the poem is yet to be decided and will depend on the responses from residents.

Current favourites include ‘The Redditch Borough Poem’ and ‘100 Ways of Looking at Redditch’.

Coun Mike Rouse, whose portfolio covers leisure and cultural services, said: “I will definitely be submitting a line with input from my daughters.

“Poetry is not only fun, it is reflective, artistic, creative, collaborative and anyone can get involved; no matter their age or background.

“Your submission can be short or long, it can respond to other lines, it can be abstract – the possibilities are endless.”

The poem will be open for additions until the end of February 2020.

If you would like to get involved contact Stewart Sanderson by emailing [email protected] or calling 01527 534 072.
