THE borough council issued the following advice on waste collection services on Wednesday afternoon (September 4, 2018).
“We are still experiencing operational issues, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
“If your green bin is usually collected on a Wednesday, please do not put your bin out this week and we will return to collect double the amount on your next green bin collection date.”
Meaning the next collection for green bins, if it wasn’t collected yesterday and normally is, will be on September 19.
The council says extra recycling should be put in cardboard boxes and left at the side of the bin for collection.
A Headless Cross resident who still hasn’t had his green bin collected said: “I can’t believe it’s going on this long.
“My bin is completely overflowing and now I have to wait another two weeks for it to be collected.
“That’s almost an entire month of waiting.”
The council has also made it clear that any green bins that are usually collected on Thursdays and Fridays will still be picked up this week and residents should put out their bins.
A spokesperson for the council added: “All grey bins will be collected as normal next week.”
