Rachel Maclean: Making our town centre vibrant and fit for the future

Redditch Editorial 9th Feb, 2019   0

WHILST Brexit is undoubtedly the biggest issue facing our country right now, we also must remember the other work that needs to be done, including right here in Redditch – and I’ve been hard at work with local government colleagues on some key areas, writes Rachel Maclean.

One part of our town which is in need of investment is the town centre.

Thanks to the lobbying efforts of the Conservative team here in Redditch, our town is set to receive a share of £2.5million for improvements.

We’re all aware of the recent announcements of store closures, but work is going on behind the scenes to ensure our town centre is fit for the future, is vibrant and a great place to live, work and play.

This share of funding from Worcestershire County Council will play its part in achieving this goal.

Of course, in order to make Redditch as accessible as possible, we need to ensure our train station is modern and as welcoming as possible so we can continue to welcome visitors to our town.

As well as the money for Redditch town centre, the County Council has also set out plans to invest an additional £5 million into the county’s railway stations, including our station in Redditch.

I look forward to seeing these plans being developed for the benefit of our town.

There is a lot to be proud of here in Redditch and I’m continuing to work with my colleagues in local government to unlock Redditch and release the full potential of our town.
