GOLFERS focused on doggies as well as birdies to raise £16,000 for charity.
The money raised by member of Redditch Golf Club has been used to fund three puppies for Dogs for the Disabled, who will all be homed with people in the borough.
The club’s 2014 captains Phil Guise and Ange Taylor handed over the donation to charity representatives this week after a year of fund-raising activities including golf days, auctions, quizzes and raffles.
Phil said: “It is a great honour anyway to be elected captain of your golf club, but makes it an even more memorable year when you can achieve something like this.
“Dogs for the Disabled is a life-transforming charity, creating exceptional partnerships between people living with disability and specially trained assistance dogs.
“Through practical assistance a dog can offer freedom and independence to children and adults with physical disabilities and children with autism.”
A charity spokesman said: “The partnerships we create between people with disabilities and dogs are life-changing.
“We are delighted Phil Guise and Ange Taylor chose Dogs for the Disabled for their year in office and to raise over £16,000 is a remarkable achievement for which we are very grateful.”
