Pupils excel as Alcester Academy reveals its best ever GCSE results

Redditch Editorial 27th Aug, 2019   0

ALCESTER Academy achieved its best ever GCSE examination results last week with 88 per cent of students achieving a grade 4 or better in English and Mathematics.

In addition to this, 66 per cent achieved the strong pass benchmark of grade 5 in these subjects.

In addition initial estimates of ‘Progress 8’ – achievement across eight subjects – is considerably higher than the +0.55 achieved by the academy last year.

This demonstrates its students performed well above average in all areas of the curriculum.

In 2018 the academy was ranked in the top 10 per cent of schools nationally and is likely to retain its position at the top.

Headteacher, Paul Hyde, said: ‘I’m thrilled for students and staff at the academy. Every single teacher and student worked as hard as they possibly could.

“Consequently, we consistently produce amazing outcomes.

“I know that many students will have secured their first-choice post 16 destination as a result of their hard work. I wish them every success for the future.”
