Pupils enjoy a trip to the panto thanks to Inner Wheel and Rotary

CHILDREN from Batchley First School had a special treat in the run-up to Christmas, thanks to the Rotary Club of Redditch and the Inner Wheel Club of Redditch.

Between them they treated Reception and Year 1 pupils with a trip to see ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ at The Palace Theatre, Redditch.

In past years, Redditch Rotary have funded several pantomime visits by Batchley children, and for some, this was their first experience of live theatre.

This time, by combining forces with Inner Wheel colleagues, it was possible to ensure that all the younger children at the school were able to attend – and enjoy an interval ice-cream!

Batchley First School Head Teacher Sarah Downes said: “We were delighted that this year, these children had the opportunity to experience The Palace Theatre’s latest pantomime; the children had a wonderful time, and I’m sure it’s given many of them a taste for live theatre.

“Our thanks to Rotary and Inner Wheel for making this possible.”
