MEMBERS of local campaign group Worcestershire for Europe travelled to London to be outside Parliament while MPs debated and voted on the Lords’ amendments to the EU withdrawal bill last week.
Stuart Thomson, chair of Worcestershire for Europe said “We were there to have a pro-EU presence while the crucial amendments were being debated and to defend the rights of both Remain and Leave voters.
“Those cheering on their MPs for voting down the Lords’ amendments to the EU withdrawal Bill may not be aware that fundamental human rights, environmental protections and safeguards crucial to business were being binned.
“It is vital people wake up and take notice of what is basically a power grab of the extreme Brexiteers in government. The narrowest of dubiously gained majorities two years ago is being dressed up as ‘The Will of the people’ and being used to create a bargain basement de-regulated Britain that very few voted for.”
Members of Worcestershire for Europe are taking coaches from Malvern, Worcester and Bromsgrove to join the People’s Vote march on Saturday, June 23 in London. Email [email protected] to join them.
