A BUSINESSMAN who has built up a multi-million pound company with his brothers has been commended for his ‘inspirational leadership and dogged persistence’.

Anup Sodha, managing director at Lexon, was handed the Asian Business Healthcare Business of the Year award at an event to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of the Asian business community. He was also named tenth on the Asian Rich List for the Midlands.

The company was created in 1995 by Anup, Nitin and Pankaj and their nephew Pritesh Sonpal and now boasts a turnover of more than £107million a year, an 80,000ft warehouse in Moons Moat and an international client base.

The family also runs Knights Chemists, a chain of 20 pharmacies across the West Midlands.

Shailesh Solanki, one of the panel of four experts who put together the rich list, said: “This is the second year that we have published a dedicated list for the Midlands, as we feel there is so much talent that needs to be recognised in the region.

“The overall increase in combined net worth shows that despite the challenges of the general economy, many business leaders in the community have seen opportunity and potential and moved quickly to capitalise. It is an inspiring picture and one that should energise entrepreneurs everywhere.”
