‘Pop Up’ Information and Advice surgery set for Church Hill with Age UK

Redditch Editorial 10th Sep, 2019   0

A NEW ‘Pop Up’ Information and Advice surgery has been set up in Church Hill by Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest (BRWF).

According to the latest figures there are nearly 2,700 people aged 50 plus in Church Hill and the aim is to offer those people advice they can trust.

The new venture is being supported by Councillor Ann Isherwood (Con, Church Hill) through the borough council’s community grant scheme.

The service, which launches on September 25 at the Way Cafe at St Andrews Church, will run from 10am to 1pm in conjunction with Coun Isherwood’s regular surgeries which are held on the last Wednesday of the month at the same venue.

Age UK BRWF chief executive Sam Humphray said: “We are very grateful to Coun Isherwood for supporting this initiative and to the team at the Way Café.

“At Age UK BRWF we understand the value that older people place on receiving face-to-face information and advice.

“In addition to launching a weekly outreach service at Redditch Library, by developing local outreach surgeries, we hope to further develop the reach and accessibility of our I&A service within Redditch.”

Coun Isherwood added: “‘I am very happy to support this project through the Councillor Community Grants Scheme, and would encourage Church Hill residents to utilise these drop-in surgeries.”

With the additional support of Coun Brandon Clayton through the Councillor Community Grant Scheme, Age UK BRWF is also seeking to launch ‘Pop Up’ surgeries in Astwood Bank and Feckenham over the coming weeks.

Local groups in Church Hill, Astwood Bank and Feckenham interested in hosting such a service should contact Jo Hughes at Age UK BRWF on 01527 868855.
