Police arrest Redditch teenager on suspicion of having a weapon

Redditch Editorial 4th Feb, 2020 Updated: 4th Feb, 2020   0

POLICE were called to Peakman Street yesterday (February 3) to reports of an assault.

Before officers arrived at 5.10pm, eye witnesses spotted large groups of teenagers having a fight near to HoW College.

Police later arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of having an offensive weapon.

The person arrested was not linked to the earlier reports of an assault and a weapon was not used during that assault.

Safer Neighbourhood Team Inspector Lee Page said: “The majority of young people visit Redditch to enjoy socialising with friends, but a minority do choose to cause trouble and act in an anti-social manner.

“This can cause a huge amount of concern for local people.

“Our teams are patrolling the area to prevent any further trouble by utilising a dispersal order to ensure those intent on causing issues in the town are identified and swiftly moved on.”
