Police appeal into Valentine's Day mugging by armed gang

POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for help in tracking down seven men involved in a vicious assault in Redditch on St Valentine’s Day, February 14.

The incident happened as the victim was leaving the McColl’s Store in Church Hill Centre at around 7.45pm.

The seven approached him with two producing knives.

One held a knife close to the victim and, as he tried to squeeze past them and escape.




But they gathered around him, and punched him repeatedly in the face and body.

Eventually he managed to escape and ran down off down Melbury Way and into Rickyard Lane, chased by the gang.


All of the men were wearing dark clothing and most had their faces covered.

Two had olive skin and the other five were white while one had short facial hair on his chin.

PC Freckleton said: “An investigation was launched into what was a very violent and traumatic incident for the victim who required hospital treatment and we have been following several lines of enquiry.”

He urged any witnesses or anyone with any information to call police on 101, quoting 07772s of February 14, 2020.
