THE brand new Redditch Local History Museum was declared officially open this week with former borough councillor Pat Witherspoon formally cutting the ribbon.
Pat, who also chairs Redditch Older People’s Forum, was joined by wellwishers, museum trustees and its many volunteers for the ceremony.
The museum, on Market Place opposite St Stephen’s Church, is packed with items from the town’s past and includes valuable documents showing the development of the town through the centuries.
These include a scale model of the old Evesham Street before it was demolished to make way for the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.
It’s not all ‘old Redditch’ either with documents charting the development of the new town also on show.
There’s a section on notable figures from the town’s past and a rolling montage of old photographs, plus much, much more.
Redditch Local History Museum officially is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm and entry is just £2.
