RESIDENTS across Redditch, Alcester and the surrounding area will fall silent on Sunday (November 9) in respect to those who fought and lost their lives in two world wars and conflicts since.

*In Redditch the parade will leave the Apollo Car Park in the town centre about 10.30am and march to the War Memorial outside St Stephen’s Church, where a service and two minutes silence will be held at 11am.

*A service of remembrance will take place at the Church of St Matthias & St George in Church Road in Astwood Bank at 10am. The parade will then march to the war memorial on the Evesham Road for the wreath laying ceremony.

*In Studley the parade will leave the Pool Road Car Park at 10am and march to the war memorial where wreaths will be laid and the silence observed. The parade will then make its way up the High Street where the chairman of the parish council will take the salute.




*In Alcester the 25th annual Festival of Remembrance Concert takes place (tomorrow) at The Greig Centre. On Sunday the service of remebrance and wreath laying will take place around the war memorial outside St Nicholas Church.

*On Tuesday, Armitstice Day itself (November 11) a second service of remembrance will be held in Redditch around the cenotaph on Plymouth Road at 11am.
