Origami, markers, watercolours and more at Redditch Arts Circle

Redditch Editorial 13th Aug, 2017   0

THE rich variety of artistic techniques employed by members of Redditch Arts Circle were given full rein at the last meeting.

Members were encouraged to bring along and set up their own equipment and work in their usual medium.

Colleagues could circulate around the various workstations, observing and discussing the techniques and, in some cases, giving them a go themselves.

The result was fascinating, with Cheryl Clayton working with her impressive array of markers, and demonstrating the use of metallic wax pencils.

Mike Crockett used his palette knife and fingers to paint with acrylics while Graham Wilson entertained while demonstrating his loose, expressive watercolour technique.

Eddy Harris meanwhile showed amazing skill with origami and brought along examples of his work ranging from quite simple birds and animals to extremely complicated geometric constructions some of which even had ‘shape changing’ properties.

Chair Val Harris also took the opportunity to congratulate Stuart and present him with the trophy for the best painting in the recent RAC exhibition in the Kingfisher shopping centre.

The next meeting will be at St Luke’s Methodist Church, Evesham Road, Headless Cross on Wednesday, September 7 at 7.30pm.
