PEOPLE heading for this July’s Timber Festival in the National Forest are invited to join a bike ride from Birmingham to the festival site. Led by Red Fox Cycling, participants will meet like minded festival goers and enjoy a relaxing, scenic 39 mile cycle ride.
Cyclists will be chaperoned by a support van housing their camping gear and provided snacks and drinks on the journey from Birmingham to Feanedock in the National Forest, where revellers can enjoy a three day festival of debate, celebration and reflection in a forest setting.
Cyclists taking part will receive a discount of £42.50 on their weekend festival tickets.
Richard Wake from Red Fox Cycling said: “We’re delighted to be working with Timber for a second year to offer a ‘zero carbon’ sustainable form of transport to the event!
“Those braving the 39 mile journey from Birmingham can look forward to a relaxed canal and countryside ride, a delicious al fresco lunch from the Black Root Bistro and a celebratory afternoon beer at the Colvile Arms in Lullington.
“Surely there’s no better way to kick start the weekend?”
Joining the ride is Stephen Fabes, the A&E doctor who cycled the length of six continents, and author of ‘Signs of Life: To the Ends of the Earth with a Doctor’.
The book chronicles his incredible six-year adventure across 75 countries spanning 53,000 miles.
Created by the National Forest Company and award-winning festival producers Wild Rumpus, Timber takes place at Feanedock, on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire border in the National Forest, from July 2-4, 2021.
A celebration of trees and forests, in a place where trees have led the transformation of a former mining landscape, Timber encourages audiences to re-examine their relationship with the natural world.
The programme features a range of illuminating talks, workshops and performances that explore our relationship with the natural world. Musicians Gruff Rhys, The Unthanks, Snapped Ankles, Erland Cooper, Field Music, Sam Lee top a diverse bill where music, performance and the arts run wild.
