On the road up - Rachel Maclean MP promoted as re-shuffle continues

REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has been appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Transport.

The news comes just 24 hours after Mrs Maclean, who had been parliamentary private secretary in the Treasury, heard that her boss Sajid Javid MP had resigned as Chancellor of the Exchequer rather than replace his advisers with those selected by the Prime Minister.

Of her promotion Mrs Maclean said: “I’m absolutely honoured the Prime Minister has asked me to serve as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Transport.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Secretary of State and the entire team at what is an exciting time for transport in this country.

“Transport is a key part of this Government’s agenda to level up the whole country, including here in Redditch.

“Innovation will be at the heart of this country’s future transport network, and as we head towards net zero emissions by 2050, transport will play an essential role and I’m excited to be playing my part in this.

“My first priority will always be Redditch.

“It’s my home and it continues to be the honour of my life to serve my constituents.

“My commitment to Redditch will not change as a result of my new role.

“I’ll still be holding regular surgeries, working on casework and of course fighting to return services to the Alexandra Hospital.”
