Not an algorithm: Saints Head praises determination of students

RESULTS that celebrate hard work and determination rather than the workings of an algorithm have been the order of the day at St Augustine’s Catholic High School in Redditch.

Principal Gerald O’Connor said: “It has been an unprecedented year for all, but for students sitting external examinations it has been particularly stressful.

“So it is uplifting today to see happy and excited students now looking forward to their post-16 studies.

“Students have much to celebrate as these grades now reflect their hard work, their determination and aspirations for the future rather than the results of an algorithm.

“As the lead Careers Hub for Worcestershire, our students will receive the appropriate targeted support to ensure they have a smooth transition into their post-16 phase of study, training or work.

“Finally, may I thank all of our stakeholders – teachers, parents/carers, governors and directors for supporting the success of St Augustine’s and are always at the heart of what we do.”
