No trains between Lichfield and Redditch - Cross City line to be closed for a second day

TRAINS on the Cross-City line between Redditch and Lichfield via Birmingham New Street will not run for a second day running, London Midland has announced.

Due to damage to the overhead electric following the impact of Storm Doris, all lines are blocked.

Full ticket acceptance has been agreed with National Express West Midlands buses for the Cross City line and there is road transport in place for stops between Longbridge and Redditch.

There is also a rail replacement service covering Longbridge to Bromsgrove.

The delays come after commuters living in areas including Alvechurch, Barnt Green, Longbridge and Northfield were stranded due to the impact of Storm Doris yesterday (Thursday).

A tree which had came down near Five Ways Station and overhead cables sustaining damage at Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield, and just outside New Street led to the termination of all services.
