New classes for people with arthritis to launch in Redditch

Redditch Editorial 26th Dec, 2019   0

A NEW exercise class will be starting in Redditch to help residents struggling with arthritic joints.

Starting in the new year and dubbed ‘Joint Effort’, the class is for anyone who wants to help keep their joints strong and mobile.

The lead instructor of the course is qualified to work with people living with arthritis and will be on hand to give advice on how to manage individual pain.

Coun Julian Grubb, whose portfolio covers health and wellbeing, said: “I am really pleased to see that the popular ESCAPE-pain classes are being expanded into Joint Effort.

“It means residents will have the opportunity to go to a weekly class, rather than having to wait until another course comes round.

“Not only will this help people live a more active, mobile life with less reliance on medication, but it also provides an excellent social opportunity for like-minded people.”

The Joint Effort sessions will start on January 15 at Batchley Community Centre, running every Wednesday at 1pm for one hour.

Sessions cost £3.30 and there is no need to book in advance.
