IT’S nearly midnight at the Abbey Stadium and we’re at the count for the local elections for Redditch Borough Council.
And the word is that the turnout across the borough is low.
Nevertheless there seem to be plenty of ballots to count as the candidates stand nervously around their individual ward signs.
The current state of the council before the results is: Conservatives: 23 councillors, Labour: 3 councillors, Greens: 1 councillor and
Independent: 1 councillor.
Eleven seats are being decided tonight, including two in Greenlands after Labour’s Jenny Wheeler stood down due to ill health.
