Music, fun fair and fireworks as Redditch gets set for Bonfire Night

Redditch Editorial 10th Oct, 2018   0

REMEMBER remember the 1st of November…as the Borough Council’s annual Firework Spectacular returns for residents to enjoy the whizz, sparkle and pop of a fantastic display.

It’s at Arrow Valley Country Park on Thursday 1st of November and will start with the funfair at 6pm followed by live music and then the firework show at 7.30pm.

Live music will be provided by local acts Plus One and Xavier Reeves.

Plus One are a four-piece cover band that specialise in indie-rock from the early 2000s as well as more traditional cover classics to get the audience going. Xavier Reeves is a solo artist, a product of Indigo Arts, who’s played Birmingham’s O2 Institute earlier this year and was a favourite at Morton Stanley Festival.

Admission to the event is free but there will also be food concession stands and Wilson’s Fun Fair which charge.

“The lake event is always spectacular. I’ve been taking my family for over five years now, so grab your coats and scarves and – whatever the weather – share in the fun of the evening with your families and friends too,” said Councillor Mike Rouse, whose portfolio covers Leisure Services.

And just like last year there will also be disabled parking at the Battens Drive entrance and a free park and ride service so visitors don’t need to worry about where to leave their cars.

This will run from Moons Moat Drive near the event with parking on Merse Road from 5.45pm. A bus will then depart every 15 minutes until the last pick up which departs at 7pm.

Return trips start at 8.15pm and run every 15 minutes until the last bus at 9.15pm.

This year the drop off point will be at the underpass on Paper Mill Drive which is a short walk from the event.

A small section of road on Battens Drive will be closed in both directions from its junction with Hopyard Lane to its junction with Padgets Lane between 6pm and 9pm.

For those holding a firework display at home the Fire Service’s safety guidelines are available here: www.hwfire.org.uk/safety-and-advice/firework-safety/

Pet owners are also reminded to be responsible and keep pets indoors on bonfire night.

For more details about the event contact the borough council’s Arts and Events team on 01527 534030 or go to www.redditchbc.gov.uk and search fireworks.
