POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed at a home in Guinness Close in Redditch on Wednesday evening.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called just after 9.30 folowing reports of a stabbing at one of the houses.
Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and two emergency doctors attended the scene where they found a man in his 30s with stab wounds.
A West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman said: “On arrival, crews found a man in a critical condition. Staff worked as a team to administer advanced life support on scene to the man.
“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts, nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Formal identification has not yet taken place.
A murder investigation has been launched and police remain at the scene while enquires continue.
Local residents described Guinness Close as a peaceful haven where neighbours always looked out for one another.
“I didn’t know the man personally but we would say hello and he was always pleasant,” said one.
“I actually chose to live here because it is such a nice area and we have a real sense of community here.
“I can’t believe this has happened right on our doorsteps and no one could do anything to help him.”
Detectives at scene on Thursday morning refused to comment, but Detective Inspector Ed Slough said: “Last night we were called to an incident where a man has sadly died.
“His family have been informed and we are supporting them through this traumatic time.
“We have launched a murder investigation and our enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to call 101.”
