A WALNUT tree has been planted in Morton Stanley Park as a living link with Redditch’s twin town of Mtwara in Tanzania.
The tree was planted by the town’s four visitors from the East African country to commemorate their visit and as a symbolic link to the cashew nut trees that are grown in the region.
The visitors, Sheikh Mangochi, Bright Msalya, Pastor Sylvester and Sister Monika were joined by members of Redditch One World Link and the local campaign group Transition Town for the ceremony.
It is hoped that both Redditch and Mtwara can build on the links forged by this visit to further strengthen relations between the two town.
