REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has issued a reminder to residents to wash their hands amid the coronavirus outbreak.
She said: “I completely understand that, with continued media coverage, my constituents are concerned about the coronavirus spreading.
“Unfortunately, the spread of this virus is likely to become more significant in the coming weeks but the UK remains extremely well-prepared.
“Washing our hands with soap and hot water is simple advice but it is the single most important thing we can all do.”
Mrs Maclean added that ‘it’s business as usual’ for most people and they should not panic.
She says she is in contact with local health bosses and the Borough Council to ensure they are well prepared.
“For the overwhelming majority of people who contract the virus they will make a speedy and full recovery.”
Symptoms of the virus include a dry cough, a high temperature and shortness of breath.
If symptoms persist, it is advised to seek medical advice through the NHS 111 service rather than going to your local doctor or hospital.
