SHOPPING trolleys taken from Morrisons supermarket are becoming an eyesore around Matchborough.
That’s the verdict of ward councillor and leader of the borough council opposition Juliet Brunner.
Coun Brunner (Con, M’boro) said the problem had only developed since the supermarket giant had stopped its £1 slot system for shoppers to unlock the trolleys at its Clearwell Road site between the Warwick Highway and Battens Drive.
“There’s a minority of people who use the trolleys to take their shopping all the way home and them leave them with the result that we have had a number of them as sculptures decorating the duck pond,” said Coun Brunner.
She added that council officers had been collecting and storing the trolleys around Matchborough centre before adding: “This inconsiderate behaviour has a cost implication for both the Council and Morrisons and I’d urge those responsible to stop doing it.”
