MORE than 40 police officers raided the Duck Inn pub on Pheasant Lane earlier today following suspicions of illegal activity on site.

The warrant led to a large quantity of cash and goods being seized and a car with no insurance being recovered.

No arrests were made but the investigation is on-going.

The raid, known as Operation Ironstone, took place at around 11am on Thursday, October 18 and was shadowed by Standard reporter Harry Leach.

Redditch’s top cop Inspector Mark Chappell led an organised and committed team which managed to successfully get into position around the pub to make sure no one was able to flee.

“This operation was based on information from the public,” said Inspector Mark Chappell.

“The police and our partners have acted on the interest of the public and we will continue to do so.”

After being given the go-ahead by Inspector Chappell, officers launched their way onto the pub’s car park and immediately began to storm through the building.

Sniffer dogs were then deployed onto the scene.

Workers at the car wash, located towards the back of the pub, were questioned but released soon after.

Other offences at the premises are being investigated by partner agencies and a prohibition order has been placed on the address by Hereford and Worcester Fire & Rescue Service.
