Moons Moat group go daft for daffs at major bulb planting event

Redditch Editorial 12th Nov, 2018   0

BULB planters ignored the torrential rain to place hundreds of daffodil bulbs at the Moons Moat ancient monument site in Church Hill.

Organised by the Moons Moat Conservation Group and supported by Church Hill Big Local, they were helped by pupils from Abbeywood First School before they were beaten back by the weather.

The aim is to produce a stunning floral display in the spring as part of the Group’s ten year plan to transform the site.

The group are also holding an open meeting on Thursday, November 22 and everyone is invited to go along and find out what they’re all about.

It’s at the Willow Trees Centre in Church Hill starting at 7pm. The objective is to report back to residents on the progress made so far and to seek from them their thoughts and ideas on what they would like to see happen at the moat in the coming year..

There will be displays and presentations to illustrate what has been achieved and the suggested projects for 2019 as well as an opportunity to meet the team of volunteers currently working on the moat projects. The MMCG will also be hoping to persuade new volunteers to join the group!

They will also be promoting a Crowd Funding appeal on the Just Giving website.

This is not only part of its over quest for funding to support these plans but also to enable Redditch residents to ‘buy into’ the project and get involved.
