Maxx effort for hospice from Redditch staff

“EVERYBODY loves Julie,” says Dale O’Keeffe – and to prove it, customers and colleagues at TK Maxx in Redditch have been digging deep to raise money for the Primrose Hospice.

Julie Shale has worked at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre branch of TK Maxx since it opened more than 15 years ago.

“She knows all the customers and all they all know her,” said Dale, a team leader at the store.

So when Julie’s husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer, they all rallied round to help.

Sadly he recently passed away after being cared for at the Primrose, but that hasn’t stopped staff, customers and TK Maxx headquarters from stepping in to continue fundraising for the hospice.

“When Julie’s husband went into the Primrose we felt we should do something and started fundraising,” said Dale.

“TK Maxx also has a community fund and you can apply for a top up donation from them, which we did.”

TK Maxx HQ agreed to do so, chipping in £2,000 towards the total.

“That was fantastic, and the customers have been great too, they all know Julie and have been very generous,” added Dale.

The store still has collection buckets and shaker tins by the tills and all donations will be gratefully received.
