Market Place in Redditch set for improvement works to attract more visitors

Redditch Editorial 11th Jan, 2021   0

MARKET Place in Redditch is next in line to be improved as part of Worcestershire County Council’s Town Centre Improvement Programme.

The scheme will include a full refresh of the paving at the junction of Evesham Walk and Market Place and also down Market Place into Mercian Square.

Refreshed paving will then link with previous improvement works on Alcester Street and Church Green East.

The central drainage channel on Evesham Walk will also be replaced.

These improvements are set to start sometime during the first week of February.

County Councillor Ken Pollock, cabinet member with responsibility for economy and infrastructure, said: “It’s great that we’re now able to move forward with these works.

“The aim is to help boost the local economy by making it more attractive for businesses and visitors – something that is always important but especially now during these difficult times.

“The works will link well with previous improvements delivered in the area as part of our Town Centre Improvement Programme, which has been a great success across the county.”

The development, which has been agreed in consultation with Redditch Borough Council, is expected to be completed sometime during the summer.
