Man arrested for drink driving 'apologises' after smashing into traffic light

A MAN was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after smashing into a traffic light last night.

The incident happened at around 6.30pm at the top of Unicorn Hill, next to Market Place and Evesham Walk.

An eye witness told the Standard: “We heard a huge crash and came over to look at what had happened.

“The driver got out of the car, apologised and then started walking off down the hill.”

Police confirmed the man was arrested not long after the crash.


Those driving near to the area are being urged to drive carefully as temporary traffic lights are not yet in place.
