Make sure you're registered or face losing the right to vote

Redditch Editorial 27th Jul, 2020   0

RESIDENTS in Alcester and Studley are being urged to look out for a voter registration letter from Stratford District Council.

Local residents are being asked to make sure their electoral registration details are up to date so they don’t lose their say in local council decisions.

With elections taking place across the district in May 2021, this is an important opportunity for residents to make sure they can take part.

The annual canvass ensures the district council can keep the electoral register up to date, identifying any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.

Electoral registration officer David Buckland said: “It’s important residents keep an eye out for letters or emails or telephone calls from the district council so we can make sure we have the right details on the electoral register for every address in the district.

“To make sure you are able to have your say at elections taking place next year simply follow the instructions which will be provided by your local authority.

“If you are not currently registered, your name will not appear in the communication that we send to your household.

If you want to register, the easiest way is online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, or we will send you, in the post, information explaining how to do this.”

Residents who have any questions can contact their local registration team at: [email protected]
