Make a date with Redditch mum’s hospital fund-raising project

A REDDITCH mum is raising vital funds for the hospital that saved her baby daughter’s life.

Dani Holdstock, from Lodge Park, has created a calendar which features hundreds of Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) cardiac patients, and in the first week of sales it has already raised almost £1,600.

Dani’s 18 month-old daughter Alexis, has had three heart operations at the hospital already – the first one at just two days old, the second at eight days old. Her condition means that she will have to have more throughout her life, and to give something back to the hospital, mum Dani decided to raise some money.

The mum-of-one owns her own printing business in Redditch and after putting a call out to other families who’s youngsters have been treated at BCH, decided to create the calendar.

She said: “I knew I wanted to make a calendar, so I asked the online community of families who have spent time at the hospital and they suggested photographs of children be the main focus of the piece.

They also asked for them to be sold at a higher priceso that even more money can go to the cause.

“I admit, it was quite a shock to see how many children have been cared for in the cardiac unit. The hospital is a truly amazing place. The staff there gave my daughter exceptional care and I want to give something back.”

Each of the 210 children will feature on their birthday month and Dani’s daughter, who inspired the idea, features throughout.

The Heart Warrior calendars are available to buy from https://beanprint.co.uk/bch and cost £10, of which £5 of this will go directly to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
