Local dance school pioneers planet friendly dancewear

A LOCAL dance school is spearheading the way to sustainability with new uniforms made from recycled ocean waste.

Students of JUMP Dance Academy, which holds classes across Worcestershire and Warwickshire, are getting kitted out in the planet friendly dancewear in a bid to reduce their environmental impact.

The uniforms are manufactured in the UK using fibres made from nylon waste and abandoned fishing nets, which have been rescued from oceans around the globe.

The material is also infinitely recyclable, making it a more environmentally conscious choice than many other fabrics used in the production of dancewear.

JUMP Dance Academy Principal, Helena Mitchell, explains why the dance school has made the pioneering move to the new dancewear:

“Protecting the environment is more important than ever. It’s something I strongly believe in and I know it’s something that young people care a lot about too.”

“Fast fashion is extremely damaging to the planet and I wanted to find a way that we could reduce our impact as a school.”

“As a teacher, it really matters to me that I am doing the right thing for the next generation.”

The new uniforms are being worn with pride by children across the school’s branches in Droitwich, Inkberrow and Henley-in-Arden.
